If so why?

Probably not, but I could see why somebody would as they’re cheap and you can stuff a V8 in there easy enough. I’d want it to have a bit more pizzazz, though.

If I could get one at a reasonble pricce here in Norway? Yeah I would. Why? Because I love quirky cars..

YES....... it has a nice set of curves to it. the factory options for it, were absolutely gutless.
if it were mine.......... AND ITS NOT........... i get a 5.0 donor, from say the EARLY 90s, and basically update the whole mess, with a lean towards handling around corners.
so YES........ as a body donor...... in apliance white, and a hatch. i would have a hard time paying anything over $500 even with paper.

For the right price, yes. Because I love normal malaise era cars that are in good condition. They're becoming quite rare. To see an old daily driver type car (I.E. not a flashy muscle car) in good shape always intrigues me.

I would buy this one:

Yes as long as it was a 302. Cheap, and I’ve always though they look cool - good example of an era in US auto history. I actually came across this one earlier today - complete with V8 and vinyl top for $2600:

I have a feeling that the general consensus on the matter will be “yes, but only with considerable drivetrain & suspension upgrades and CHEAP”
![]() 07/09/2016 at 18:37 |

Sure and while I’m at it, I will pick up an old Capri and make a Cross-Atlantic Ford mash up. It will still be gutless but it will now look and sound good.

HELL YEAH I WOULD. Because they aren’t as bad as everyone makes them out to be. Swap in whatever motor you want. Have your way with the suspension, and enjoy your pony!
![]() 07/09/2016 at 18:57 |

Yes, they’d make for great autocross cars, especially with SCCA’s introduction of Classic American Muscle (CAM) classing!
Lightweight, V8-powered, and short wheelbase? HELL YEAH.

If it was clean and cheap. Absolutely.
One day I’ll have a shop where I can correct all the wrongs on a II.
First up would be to move the front axle CL forward about 4" to kill that ridiculous front overhang.
![]() 07/09/2016 at 19:05 |

Yeah, the front suspension is a common hot rod swap.
![]() 07/09/2016 at 19:11 |

It would be a good car to buy...for me
to poop on.

There's a mint beige Chevette near me. Thing is in amazing condition. It always intrigues me.

1) No. 2) Eww.
![]() 07/09/2016 at 21:14 |

Agreed, lets change that!

Cobras do look kinda cool but even if you polish a turd it is still a turd
![]() 07/09/2016 at 23:39 |

That's the thing for the price there are so many better options I think
![]() 07/09/2016 at 23:40 |

That is a great way to look at it. In mint condition one of these would be interesting
![]() 07/09/2016 at 23:40 |

That is a II only in name
![]() 07/09/2016 at 23:42 |

I never understood why people wanted vinyl tops
![]() 07/09/2016 at 23:42 |

Basically that's what I am seeing this far in the comments
![]() 07/09/2016 at 23:43 |

That Capri looks so good
![]() 07/09/2016 at 23:43 |
|
Okay so would you buy one stock?
![]() 07/09/2016 at 23:44 |

I never thought about that I bet they are good on the cross
![]() 07/09/2016 at 23:52 |

Nor do I. I’d love to have a 70's car with one just because it was part of the era, but I don't really get what the appeal was/is in the first place.

The Internet has spoken!
![]() 07/10/2016 at 01:04 |

Absolutely!! Give me the V8 one and I'll still enjoy it.
![]() 07/11/2016 at 00:46 |

well, even though there are better cars for the price......part of the fun would be to have arguably one of THE worst starting platforms.
its sort of like the old truck that i daily..... when i outrun the brand new gt, HEY i outran the BRAND NEW GT........ if i slip, and they happen to win, well they happened to outrun some tired old loud pickup truck......... same thing in the mustang, low stress........nothing of value would be lost???

Non-rusty, cheap, clean, and originally came with a 302, yes.
Apply small-block crate motor and do a resto-mod, and it’s not the worst choice you could make in a project car. . .
